Principal’s Report was given by Mr. Leo Hodapp and was available to view. Mr. Hodapp started off praising the Brightening Committee of such a great job done. Magazine Drive made its goal and the school children have earned an extra day off from school on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. It is believed that the Magazine Drive brought in approximately $7,500 in profit.
October 2, 2007 will be the Limo Lunch and there are 22 children who qualified for this outing.
Progress Reports come out the coming Friday and he believes that there will be no surprises. Next month will be the yearly Althoff and Gibault Recruiting Day for the grades 5-8. Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for November 1 – 2, 2007. The 3rd Grade’s All Saint’s Day Mass is in discussion due to being off on All Saints Day.
September 27th is Sports Day wherein a wiffle ball and tennis ball game will be held. The children will be able to wear their favorite sports shirt. Currently, P.E. is in a holding pattern on moving over to St. Paul’s Church Yard. The Gym set will probably not be set up but that issue is up in the air. Playground equipment is an issue. Mrs. Kuhn agreed to bring out about ten hula hoops. We will need to ask Father Mark about painting 4 Square on the parking lots.
The school children will continue to eat in the classrooms for safety reasons. A short discussion on the new pick-up and drop-off was held and a letter regarding same will be sent home to all families.
Iowa Basic Skills Test was picked by the Diocese and the students will test October 9-12, 2007 and possibly into the next week if needed. The test results will be available approximately in November.
Not sure about the Cash Raffle but the children will do a Christmas Show.
Teacher’s Report. A report was provided by Mrs. Angie Fisher. She started off thanking the Brightening Committee for the hallways and PTF for the start-up money. Mrs. Fisher announced that the 1st and 7th Grades have received the Ice-Cream Social for the Magazine Drive.
Old Business:
Summer Activities: The PTF Summer Activities went over well and participation was as expected. Compliments go to all the workers who helped on the float for the parade. It was a success and received good reviews.
Brightening Committee: Brightening Committee did a wonderful job at getting everything done and ready to go before the start of school. The work performed made a huge difference and looks great.
School Quilt: The school quilt is currently still in progress.
Field Trip Money: As a reminder, each teacher is given $10 per student to help out the cost of bus rental for class field trips.
Fundraisers: The Entertainment Books will run for two weeks and end on September 21, 2007. It was agreed upon that Father Mark needs to announce the sale of the books after each mass.
Dinner Fundraisers report is by Ann Fiedler and a reminder that Pizza Hut’s night is the second Tuesday of each month. Tequila’s is questionable for the last time the experience was slightly unorganized and some families waited for a long time for service.
Dinner Auction: It has been decided to switch years with the Freeburg Grade School and they will host an auction. A verbal Thank You to the Freeburg Grade School for working with us was made. All other issues regarding the Dinner Auction will be tabled until after the Parish Center is built.
New Business:
Thank You Notes: Janel Davinroy received numerous Thank You Notes from the teachers for the start-up money and is available to view.
Donation from Wine Sales: A $120 Donation from PRP Wine International for wines bought from the dinner auction was received. The money will go back into the Dinner Auction Account.
Halloween Party: The PTF’s Halloween Committee Party is chaired by Karen Kuester and Joni Jones. Party is scheduled for October 31, 2007.
Monthly Staff Meeting: It was questioned as to why every month the school children have early dismissal for the Monthly Staff Meeting. A short discussion as to the positives and negatives of this early dismissal was held. Mr. Hodapp indicated that he will not change the schedule for this year but will reconsider this early dismissal for the future years.
New Meeting Date: It has been suggested that we change the date for the PTF meetings to the second Wednesdays of every other month so that Father Mark can attend the meetings.
Playground Equipment: After discussion of playground issues and equipment, a motion was made to purchase more playground equipment to be used for recess. The motion was 2nd by Rebecca Miller. Janel Davinroy made motion to make list of equipment available first before paying and Shelia Elser 2nd it.
Uniform Sale: The Uniform Sale was open right before the PTF meeting and the turn out was not very good. It might be better to be open by contact only. Kudos to Shelia Elser for spending many hours organizing the store. It was decided that it will be open again for the November meeting due to weather change.
It was announced that the next PTF meeting would be Wednesday, November 14, 2007. President, Janel Davinroy led us in a closing prayer and the meeting was adjourned at 7:32 p.m. and Theresa Basler 2nd it.
Respectfully submitted,
